Using GIMP
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is the free open source version of Adobe Photoshop. It offers many of the same features, with a few visual differences and some advanced features that Adobe Photoshop lacks.

## Converting Files to Work in Photoshop

When you convert a file, you can either use the easy drag-and-drop process, which is the fastest, or you can use the instructions in Chapter 2 for more thorough control of conversion. Keep in mind that converting images (and other file types) is time-consuming so it makes sense to use the direct method when possible. After you convert the file, you need to go to Photoshop’s Format menu, choose File⇒Place In Compatible Formats or File⇒Place In Photoshop Compatible Formats, or press Alt+Ctrl+P (or right-click the file and choose Place In Photoshop Compatible Formats from the shortcut menu), and select the format

Bamboo stamped onto watercolor (diluted a bit with water and gently sprayed). In one case, I started with an image that was rather dark and worked on it in stages to lighten it up and then place the bamboo stamp on top of that.
As I type this, I’m putting together a new batch of cards for a birthday card swap. It’s going to be a really nice batch of cards, but the first card I’m releasing is for this week’s Paper Heart ‘s No Shams, No Frills challenge.
It’s a fun, bright card that features a bamboo-engraved and stamped (with stamps by Stampendous, Hero Arts, and Stampendous), all in the same colour palette, on watercolor paper.
There is a lot of detail here, but I added the card to the ‘No Shams, No Frills’ challenge because I needed something different from the cards I was creating. If the card were at the typical Paper Heart ‘s party, it would have been 100% Stitched & Stamped.
There are some details that shouldn’t be shared, but still, this post is long enough.
So here is my card for the challenge. This one features a sketch and I do find some similarities with most of the other sketchy cards that I’ve created. But anyway, on with the details. ?
