Creating a Text Frame
Step 1: Open a New Project
When you first launch AutoCAD, you will be prompted to start a new project. You can save it to the cloud using one of your GitHub, Google Drive or Dropbox accounts. It can also be used as a template for other projects. Select “New Project” and click the “Create Project” button.
Step 2: Create a New Drawing
When you click the “Create Project” button, you are taken to a new blank drawing. There is an option to “Use Existing Drawing” if you have created the project on the cloud and want to use it, or “Create a New Drawing” if you are new to AutoCAD. If you have “Use Existing Drawing”, you will not have to add any objects, other than the Document Assembly. If you have “Create a New Drawing”, you will see all the objects in the “Project Explorer” in your workspace.
Step 3: Create a New Document Assembly
Select “Project Explorer” and choose the “+” icon to add a new Document Assembly. Click the “Create New” button and enter “Text” as the name. Click the “OK” button to create the “Text” Document Assembly.
Step 4: Insert the Document Assembly
Select “Window”, then “View”, then “Project”, and then “Select”. Choose “Document” from the “Layout” pull-down menu and “Select”.
