As a former Autodesk employee I have had the pleasure of using AutoCAD for many years. I was present when the program was first released in 1982. I was a young cadger at the time, working on a very sophisticated package of very expensive and very large computers. The package had a CAD application written in-house by a top graphic artist and developed in collaboration with an architectural rendering artist. It was complex, hard to use, and expensive. With Markup Import, you can quickly import graphic and textual feedback such as process diagrams, notes or feedback from coworkers. In addition to importing from paper, you can also import from PDFs or other external files.
To import from a paper source, you simply send the paper to the printer (or scan it). The paper is then scanned by your computer and your CAD application’s built-in library can find and load the most suitable annotation software for the imported paper. That software converts the paper to your file format and your design software can then use the annotations.
With Markup Assist, you can add comments to your existing drawings that are automatically saved in your drawing document. Comments can be marked with letters, numbers and symbols to indicate additional requirements or comments about the drawing.
