It is working, but I want to be able to tell it that foo is a number and that the id is a number, so I tried this:

expect(foo.id).to.equal(Number.parseInt(foo.id));
But it doesn’t work. Is this possible or will I need to write the explicit tests?

No, you can’t just use Number.parseInt(foo.id). It’s not actually a valid number. It is a string.
However, if you were testing that foo was a number, you can just do:
expect(typeof foo).to.equal(‘number’);
Or if you want to check the value is numeric:
expect(foo.valueOf()).to.equal(foo.valueOf());
A:
expect(Number.parseInt(foo.id))
is the correct way to test it, but you can also use typeof foo.id in javascript to see if it’s actually a number.
