AutoCAD 2017 added a command line interface, changes to the double-click importing feature, shape builders, a fish-eye viewing camera, and a modernized user interface called Dynamic Input. AutoCAD 2019 introduced a split screen for drawing and design.
The successor to AutoCAD 2016 is currently AutoCAD 2020. AutoCAD 2020 includes a redesigned user interface and a different XML-based user interface that can be viewed in the cloud, and a new database format called keygen.

Standalone software
AutoCAD may run as part of a larger application called AutoCAD LT. Former versions

Attribute-based editing for 2D drawings
Nested editing, including sheeting, nested sheets, and nested areas and components
Stylistic editing, including texture, color, pattern and gradient styles
Commands can now be grouped into categories for the purpose of managing large numbers of commands
Several commands added to the command dialog for ease of use
Several new drawing types: site and plot, architectural plans, architectural elevations and 3D models
Many new features introduced in the previous two major releases (AutoCAD 3 and AutoCAD 4), plus many more
