Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system designed by Roblox Corporation and launched in 2006.
The game can be described as a modern-day environment for children in which they are encouraged to develop and unleash their creativity by programming “games” for other users. On Roblox, all games and the programs that play them are written in the Lua programming language and can be developed and run in a number of ways using several programming methods. Games are playable in the browser using a scripting interface, and there are also mobile apps for iOS and Android. History
Beginnings: 2005–2011
Roblox was created in 2005 by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, who met in the game development community and had previously worked together at a digital marketing company in Phoenix, Arizona. They worked with one of their clients to create a video game ad campaign that took the audience on a story-based journey through their early childhood and youth. When the client found the project too expensive, they gave it to the two men to make into a game, and in the process they formulated the idea for Roblox. They released the game on their website, with it hosted in Flash. Roblox was met with good feedback. Erik Cassel left the company in 2007, and later David Baszucki brought in another developer to help build the game and office.
