but when youre talking about the larger topic of sexism in gaming, then, specifically, keep in mind that a good majority of women in gaming are probably not getting harassed by sexist guys online. and this has been my experience. my girlfriends all seem to enjoy playing games, and arent interested in playing with a different set of rules because of their gender. i know a few people who play games a bit as well. ive never run into a situation where a girl, dating a gamer, or thinking about dating a gamer, played with any sense of being discriminated against.

if the word gamer is simply a label for the hobby, then its certainly one that holds loads of potential for growth, especially to all young people who love to play games. this is especially true if you look at how many young people are getting into the hobby. in fact, this is the perfect opportunity for those of us who know how and want to join them. hopefully this article ill help some, but it wouldnt hurt to try and level the playing field to begin with. and maybe, at the end of the day, its not about a societal movement called gamergate that will impact your life in any way, shape, or form. its about making the world a better, more enjoyable place to be for gamers. and thats what gaming is all about.
