Surah al-Kahfi in English translation is “The Cave” or “The Cave in the Knee”. This surah of the Quran is believed to have been revealed to the Prophet Muhammad as a response to an incident of the youth of the Great Cave of Najran. In Al-Kahfi, the Prophet rebukes the monks who did not show any interest in the revelation of God and who venerated worldly knowledge over knowledge of God. It is believed that Al-Kahfi was revealed when the Prophet had mentioned a dispute between the Indian and the Byzantine monks.
