this effect can be adjusted to have a soft or a heavy effect. this is the first parameter that affects the multiband dynamics buffer. the second parameter is the threshold crossover point. this is the point where the threshold signal is sent from being active to the buffer. when the threshold is at 100 percent, nothing is sent to the buffer. when the threshold is turned down to 10 percent, any signal above that point is sent to the buffer and compresses the signal. when this point is set to 50 percent or higher, the threshold completely controls the output of the buffer. the maximum gain control is where the output of the buffer is sent to when the threshold is at 100 percent. this ensures that a very high amount of gain is only applied to the buffer for those very high levels of input signal. the release control is how fast the output of the buffer comes back down to 100 percent. by setting the release time down to zero, this has the same effect as having the release control set to 100 percent. try playing around with all the settings and see what you can get.
