And that’s as elementary as it is going to get in regards to the plot: buddies Cheech and Chong make a decision to ‘put their lives back on track’ by traveling to Mexico to make some sort of money. (Of course, that doesn’t happen very very much.) They seem to be also around to get laid, as well as to revel in the peace and joy of their native land. Any absurdity is good absurdity in my opinion, and we haven’t even started up with the movie yet. The funny part is, these two idiots get so good at supplying hilarious examples of stupidity, that you don’t mind seeing how the comedy will take them.
Things go excellent with Cheech’s family (well, very good, at least) until the psychotic Paul ‘Mousie’ Garner gets hold of it. Picking on a girl, things go proper terrible for the rest of the film. The funniest detail in the movie is a gentleman’s reaction to the aforementioned criminal’s assault on his girlfriend. He only ends up in a wheel chair for trying to intervene and take him down himself. The scene in which he wheels out is just hysterical.
The movie is the first film Cheech and Chong made in without the assistance of George Carlin. It gives off an old vibe to it, but a still good one. The film is a collection of oddballs acts as a type of Family Feud, but with weed. The bold in this movie are really ingenious, and end up being my favorite. Cheech and Chong is more about comedy than the movie itself, and this is supported by a straight forward plot. It can be readily seen who is the comedian, and who is playing the straight man in this one.
It was like a producer said: “The first sixty minutes is a picture about what I don’t want you to be concerning after i’ve been done watching.” And this producer was right. It is a collection of normal scenes with no story from beginning to end, yet they all make for a very funny story. So if you’ve ever thought about seeing a movie before about nothing, then see ‘Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie.’ This is the movie for you. This is a great movie, almost too good. This is well worth seeing. That is why it is such a good movie.
It’s pretty funny, but not remarkable. I mean, I enjoy the movie, but that’s about it. Another duo who I tend to like are Cheech and Chong. They typically make for more humorous characters, and this will be the case here.
