NAMPA, Idaho (IDAHO SPRINGS) – Black Panther: The Panther and the Villain, the first comic book to feature Black Panther created by Black people for the Marvel Universe and distributed by Black people, will be released on March 9, 2018. The first issue will be released as a DVD and will be available for $14.99 from two dozen comic book retailers across the country. Retailers have the option to purchase the comic with a special incentive cover for $19.99.

Black Panther is a mutant who hails from the fictional African nation of Wakanda. He possesses superhuman abilities that enable him to shrink and grow, leap great distances, absorb or channel the powers of other super-powered beings, change his shape, and send energy blasts from his fingertips. The comic series is written by Greg Johnson and illustrated by Shannon Wheeler.

“I am elated to be part of the first comic book released by Black Panther creator Brian Michael Bendis,” said Johnson. “We have always had a comics presence in Idaho and I hope this will help that to expand further.
