With rails 3, it should be find_by_sql.
I have tried to start the application with rails -v and I get the 2.3.5 gems which is not what we want. The same thing happens when I start the app with 3.0.0. I have also tried gem list –local but get the same results.
Is there some way to detect if we are using an old version of rails?

You could check if ActiveRecord::Base.send(:marshal_dump) returns the version of Rails you’re running on. In your app initialize method you could do something like:
