It handles the catalog import requests of thousands of images by “associating” new images to the existing meta data, rather than re-creating all of it from scratch. The new Import Profiles Editor is found under “File > New” and lets you define which data you intend to import from your existing Lightroom catalogs. Seven options are available, and you can also create new ones. For example, you could create a project to import the files in your photo library that you want to use for your portfolio. This is a very handy tool and was clearly copied from Lightroom 4’s “Import Turns” feature. Adobe also managed to include other handy tricks found in other applications in Lightroom 5: scenes and keywords.
One thing to note is that the behavior of adding a layer is different between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. In Lightroom, a duplicate layer is made when you have a duplicate image. In Photoshop, it’s created automatically when you add a new layer to a changed image.
