The resolution of a.eps file is controlled by the size of the graphic on the screen, not by the size of the file itself. The.eps file can be modified to increase the resolution of the image, but this will take the image out of proportion (meaning, a 1 inch.eps file will display the image at a scale of 1:2, not 1:1).

A user may want to create a logo that is 1 inch wide but only 100 micrometers high. A vector graphics file would not be able to handle this situation and would instead simply ‘blow up’, making the image larger and larger, with diminishing resolution.
