SketchUp (`www.sketchup.com`) is an award-winning program that enables you to create three-dimensional (3D) models of almost any type of architecture. You can even design your own custom 3D objects in this program. If you’re interested in 3D modeling, SketchUp is where you should start.

The program provides a visual interface that enables you to manipulate the model by arranging and rotating components of the model, as illustrated in Figure 1-13. You can combine the standard components of the model for an architectural design.

When working with the 3D model, you can control the color of the model by choosing from a palette of colors or a predefined color. You can also use color blending to blend the selected colors together and create other color combinations.

When you’re finished working on the 3D model, you can save the model to your local disk. You can also share your work with others. You can even print your SketchUp model for others to see.

CAD

CAD ( _computer-aided design_ ) is used to create drawings of architectural models. A CAD program is the most precise and complex modeling tool in the architectural trade. It enables you to create professional-looking drawings with tight tolerances for cutting, drilling, and construction costs. It enables you to use advanced design elements such as walls, roofs, columns, and more.

A typical CAD program has a lot of bells and whistles, such as parametric modeling, which enables you to input measurements and to convert those measurements into precise built-in dimensions in the design. A CAD program allows you to create complex multilevel plans and builds, and it can save your designs for future reference or sharing.

On the downside, CAD software is expensive and complicated. Typically, the cost of a CAD program is equivalent to two to three times the cost of Photoshop.

There are two major types of CAD programs. The standard version provides the basic functionality that’s required for most drafting projects. Users usually opt for the more expensive professional version if they want extra bells and whistles or a high degree of design accuracy

History

The History tab lets you restore previous versions of the image and you can also delete the most recent image or the one you worked on. You can switch the color of the toolbar or leave it on the default theme.

Bash script to create list of files with timestamps and delete some files

My bash script is not working properly, it is deleting the files I’m not happy about!
I’m actually trying to find files with certain names and timestamps, then list them, delete them all, then move the same named files to another directory. In a script, I might edit the filename out of the path, it may not make sense.

This script is just writing to the terminal, but hopefully it’s good enough to help a fix!

Your variables in the shell script are not interpolated inside the /bin/bash script. The shell script will get shell-native versions of the variables, and any % expansions will be done before the value is assigned. Thus, the shell script will see [0-9] as a literal. You need to use the -r option to let bash interpolate the variable, but you still need to quote your variable, since wildcard characters are not interpreted by the shell (and therefore it will not see [0-9] as a wildcard):
