Cracking Adobe Photoshop is a bit more complicated than installing it. It requires a few steps to bypass the security measures that are in place. Often, to duplicate an HDR image from a stack, you have to apply adjustment layers to get the tones back to normal, stitch, convert to TIF, apply another adjustment layer for skin tones, and so on.
The new integration means you don’t have to do all the steps manually any more; you can work with Smart Object, duplicate images and groups, choose Render Type, and set various effects for just the final step. There is a good compositing tutorial in the manual. A perk to working with Smart Objects is that you can still apply other adjustment layers to the original sequence without having to rotate the Smart Object layer to match the composition—but Smart Objects also have their own layers, which provide freedom for experimentation.
On the one hand, the new Paperwhite retains the typography and inky blacks of the last version, but you get a boost in refresh rate and web browsing performance. On the other hand, the 7-inch display now has lower contrast and a new screen coating that can cause reflections, especially by dark imagery. This screen has some advantages over the Kindle Paperwhite 2, primarily that the now-larger touchscreen can accommodate three more custom covers, which are useful for more ebook formats and storing more apps.
The best way to use the different software tools in Photoshop is to use a combo of shortcuts. For instance, you can use Lightroom, for your publishing workflow. While Lightroom does not include a photo editor like Photoshop, it does offer options that you won’t get from Photoshop.
