SSD vs. HDD cache differences?

I’ve got a laptop with a relatively small SSD, and I’m using it as a daily driver.
I see that cache (RAM) on SSDs is more effective, and can read and write to the drive more frequently. So does this mean that, since I’m reading/writing data to the SSD frequently, I should be using an SSD over a HDD for performance?
In the past I’ve always used HDD’s, but I’ve got a second laptop with an SSD, and I want to get a third with an SSD, but I’m not sure how to compare their relative performance. I’d also like to know how each SSD controller compares to one another.

The short answer is that an SSD cache is effective at both RAM and disk speed. It’s possible to have multiple SSD caches, one for RAM and one for disk, that is faster than using only one cache. One benefit is that a single cache is typically cheaper than multiple (and typically less common) types of cache.
The short answer to the first question is that there is a lot more to performance than just RAM and disk. If you are performing frequent read/writes to the SSD, it is almost certainly a good idea to also use it as a RAM disk.
