Despite the 2-1 score line, it was a tale of two halves, with the first half a tale of missed opportunities and the second half of a Dynamo team coming together and fighting to get back into the match.

Though the first half wasn’t much to get excited about — especially after the move to BBVA Compass Stadium — the second half was one of those matches you can’t wait for the playoffs to come so you can talk about the play on the field.

One of the top stories from the match was the first goal — given to Minnesota, but scored off a Dynamo header — which came about because of a back pass by midfielder Bryan Acosta.

The back pass was picked off by Minnesota’s Rasmus Schuller and fed to Tommy Hundertmark, who lobbed it forward. The pass found David Estrada in space, and after a little dinking of the ball around, it was Adam Lundkvist’s legs that were sent flying into the air, and Acosta’s head that was the first to reach the ball, to head it home.

Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric, however, didn’t commit, allowing the ball to roll just outside the box before he reached it.

When the play was broken down in the win against Minnesota, the officials awarded the team in question two free kicks within the penalty area. The first free kick came after Acosta was taken down in the box just outside the box and Minnesota won the corner that would eventually result in the goal.

The free kick was taken by Minnesota’s Hassoun Camara. The free kick was taken from the side of the box, and was like a direct throw-in, with Camara just a few yards away from the ball before an American defender punched the ball away. Camara still had time to hit the ball and shoot the goal, though, which he would have never been able to do had the free kick from Acosta been taken as a direct corner.
