i plugged the drive into my tv, started up the receiver, and chose a dolby atmos 6 channel calibration to ensure the dolby atmos audio features were working correctly on the marantz 7000. all of the files played in 6.1 surround as expected. i verified this by turning on the projector which showed 6.1 dolby atmos in a fullscreen mode.

the game detects only 1 player, not the players that are on the scene, so we need to modify the maps to add another player. we have to add a marker, that is used only for collision detection, and as soon as it collide with the player, we can do some things..
for the player detection, we have to check if it is in a 3d space, that is outside a middle range, or if it is in a 2d space, that is within that range. in the 3d space, our player is detected, and in the 2d space, we detect that it is a player, but that he is not interested by our signs (the middle range for 3d space and for the signs in 2d).
to detect if a player is in 3d, we need to check if it is a ship or a player.. for that, we use a combination of the direction of the player, the direction of the obstacle and the direction of the camera of the game. the direction of the ship is always the same. for the player, we use the direction of the player, relative to the camera of the game, with the sign of the player direction subtracted and the result clamped to [-1, 1]. for the obstacle, we use the sign of the obstacle position (if the obstacle is between the ship and the camera, we use the sign of the camera position, or if it is between the ship and the camera, we use the sign of the ship position. for the camera, we use the sign of the direction of the camera. if it is between the player and the camera, we use the sign of the player position, if it is between the player and the obstacle, we use the sign of the obstacle position. to see if a player is between the player and the camera, we could check if its distance to the player is between 0 and the distance between the player and the camera. but that is not enough, because a ship can be the only obstacle in the 3d space between the player and the camera. therefore, to know that the player can not land, we need to check that the ship is between the player and the obstacle, and that the player is not the obstacle.
