Settings were chosen to make white areas gray, to make black areas black, and to make the gray area white. These settings are selected for the small area on the image with the dotted arrows. The spot healing brush is used to change and adjust the color of the image making the white, gray, and black areas the exact color, intensity, and look that we want.
Note: The Spot Healing brush tool is only available within the “Brush Tools” panel and not from the swatches. If you go into the swatches you will find the Spot Healing brush tool in the bottom left corner of the swatches.
In the next example, I wanted to use the airbrush to change the look of the drafting squirrel. I smoothed and blended the brush and sprayed into his hair. This produces a soft look to the hair and a more natural feel for fur and hair. The last example shows the use of the Curves tool to change the light to dark value in the picture so that the photo does not look washed out. This takes just a second or two to complete using the Curves tool.
Note: In the Spot Healing tool and Dodge and Burn tool, there are little dotted arrows that show the spot where a color change has been made. In the next image the image is either corrected. The picture on the left has the little blue dotted arrow at the light like area. The picture on the right is the same image except it has been corrected.
