It’s nice to have a free option for DRM-free files. I’ll try and avoid digging up old articles if I can. And the fact that it is open source keeps me happy. I was surprised to see some of the ppl complain about the DRM on free VLC media files in this article, but at least they are now aware of it. I doubt I’d ever be willing to pay for such media, but they deserve a chance to do so. It’s easy enough to switch to a paid version, after all.
I’d think that just knowing there’s a free version would be enough to send up some red flags.
