Photoshop CS6, which was released for Windows in the fall of 2013, improves upon previous versions by incorporating several new features. GIFs are popular for their small file sizes and usage on the web, primarily because the web format is limited to only 256 colors. GIFs also make web graphics file sizes smaller than they would be if they were created in other applications.
In addition, GIFs are fun to work with — they are a simple, quick, and inexpensive way to create a simple GIF for a small project. However, GIFs have some drawbacks. GIFs take long to convert for animation and are complicated to use.
GIMP, or the GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a free, open source, GNU software tool. GIMP is powerful and has many advanced features, but it is not the most popular software because it requires several steps to create an image. GIMP’s output tends to be too large for use on the web.
GIMP was not available for Windows when I was writing this book, so I use Photoshop for the following Windows tutorial. This program is the best tool for working with GIFs. You can find more information about GIMP at www.gimp.org.

The hardware requirements for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements
Photoshop and Elements work on a variety of computer hardware. The most basic requirements are a computer that runs Windows 7 or Windows 10, a Wacom tablet, and an Internet connection.
Updated versions of both programs are available for Windows 7 or Windows 10.
The table above lists the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for both the professional version of Photoshop and the Elements version.
You don’t need a specific graphics tablet, although some people find it easier to use if you have one. The most common tablet is the Wacom Cintiq. The Cintiq Pro, however, is the only tablet-and-monitor set recommended for Elements, as the Cintiq Pro model supports Photoshop’s User Interface Designer (UiD) and Creatives Live features. It also has a larger and more accurate screen compared to other tablets.
The one Wacom model that is not supported for either Photoshop or Elements is the Bamboo Pen and Touch Tablet, although it does work well with the Wacom AnyPen.
You can use a standard-sized keyboard, mouse, or both in Photoshop and Elements. The standard keyboard is the most popular, and it’s the hardware that you would use if you didn’t own a keyboard with a numeric keypad that supported multimedia key macros.
Photoshop Elements is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 10 and macOS. It does not require a 64-bit operating system, but you will need a 64-bit processor if you want to use the 64-bit version of Photoshop Elements, which is available in the Pro and Extended versions of Photoshop.
The list of hardware requirements doesn’t include a monitor, so all three monitors for your computer are eligible. However, you should use a monitor with at least a 1680×1050 resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz or higher. This is the minimum for high-quality printing. You should use a monitor that has as many pixels as the file size of your photo allows. For most photographs, this is 1920×1080. However, be aware that if you zoom in and print at a reduced size, you can lose pixels, so use the smallest size that preserves the detail you want.

Seventeen marketing and sales executives joined LinkedIn for a private conversation about the future of marketing and sales. The speakers discussed the top marketing and sales predictions for 2018 and beyond. Here are some highlights.
Speaking on the session on advertising, Carter Copsey, CEO of Blueprint, said: “Focus on Facebook as it’s the best place to advertise for your brand, and then look to video marketing to extend the advertising life of the Facebook site.
“A great example for this is Asda, who were able to reach 8.9 million people in the UK in a single video in 2017. The amount of market penetration for Facebook is very low now, but all the marketing spend is now on Facebook. In the future, we’ll see a combination of social media traffic and direct marketing, which is going to be important in high value brand stories.
“We’re seeing a lot of sales transformation as a result of the (now) overt marketing. The big conversations of the future are going to be about financials, so we need to adapt how we talk about sales. It’s going to be about using metrics to understand how much a sale is worth.
“By having a goal-orientated approach, you can start to define the metrics that matter to the customer. This will transform the way people think about sales and marketing. It will drive incredible customer experiences and it will drive digital transformation.”
Carter also talked about upcoming marketing trends, such as virtual reality, chatbots, machine learning, and the impact social media is going to have on the retail sector. He said: “It’s only a matter of time before retailers fully understand the power of gamification in their marketing. Gameful digital experiences give the customer ownership and the opportunity to learn from the brands.
“However, I’m also seeing the advantages of marketing as a whole. We can see the success of Marmite’s Ben and Jerry’s campaign where they used ice cream in brand-building, and there’s a lot to learn from that.
“Over 20 years ago, the tactic of using their brand as a viral promotion was thrown away. We can learn a lot from that. The concepts behind that campaign are now a key part of the playbook for every brand and it’
