I had a number of people ask about this module and how they could use it in their music projects, so I decided to do a quick write up.

This module is fairly simple to use, there are 5 steps.

1. Select an input/output device

2. In the top left corner click on Correlation Meter Serial Key

3. An inital screen will appear

4. Click on the Correlator button on the left side of the screen

5. Click on the connection points of your input device, either a line in, line out, microphone, headphone, CD, or other device that produces a signal.

6. Once the connection is set, you can hear a faint buzz or other types of noise that is produced by the instrument.

The buzz you hear, is the signal that is being sent in the given direction. It will only produce an output if the instrument is playing back.

7. If you are using a CD/audio input device you can hear the background music, or instrument.

In the audio examples I have used 5 directional pulses.

8. Once you have a signal, click on the Analyzer button.

9. Click on the Analyzer button in the left side of the screen.

10. The Analyzer will populate with a graph.

Analyzer Description:

It will read in the signal that is to be analyzed and then analyze the signal and output the correlation of the signal to the given direction.

With this module you can monitor the way that your instrument is playing back, as well as the other instruments in your music project.

This module calculates the correlation between the input signal and the direction pulse. The range of the correlation values can be set before execution. You can set the window size to calculate the correlation for a specific number of samples.

This is a real-time module and it doesn’t need a startup sequence. When you load the module you just have to open the slider, select the input and the output and press the “start” button.

The correlation signal is displayed on the right side. You can change the range of the correlation values by sliding the slide bar. The correlation value at the index of the time in the upper area of the display will be reduced by sliding the bar. The minimum value of the correlation will be 0.

As a final note: You can change the range of the correlation values at any time.

The amount of the time step can be specified in the “Time Step” field in the “Configure Parameters”. The range of the results can be adjusted via the slider and the “Min” and “Max” options. The “Time Step” parameter will be multiplied by the time of the input signal and the corrlation result. If the results are no longer in the range of the calculations they will be shifted out of the range.
