the objective of the course is to train you in hardware-in-the-loop (hil) simulation to enable you to start using ansys hil shortly after the course ends. the course will take approximately four days to complete. it consists of 10 lectures and three practice exams. there is a simulation lab with the students working directly on the simulation model. the lab exercises will be conducted using the ansys hil software. you will learn how to design, build, and simulate various types of hil circuit boards using ansys hfss, ansys design studio and ansys design & simulation.
third-party products have to be compiled and linked to the application, while ansys products like ansys workbench provide an end-to-end flow that is already integrated with ansys hfss, ansys designersi, and siwave. in fact, ansys workbench actually contains the full ansys hfss, designersi, and siwave product lines. when you need to work on a given simulation problem, you can start with the modeling in ansys hfss, work out the results in designersi, and push a single button to bring up the waveforms in ansys siwave. this provides an extremely rapid development cycle as you can get started with the modeling and simulation in just minutes. once you are satisfied with the modeling results in hfss, you can continue to work with designersi to analyze and optimize your designs without having to wait while the results are exported to an external waveform processor.
we highly recommend using parallels desktop for its ease of use and flexibility. this software allows the user to run mac osx and windows side by side and it does not require hard drive partitioning. windows simply acts as an application that you can run or close as you wish. all the windows files are contained in one master file (a.pvm file) that you can move wherever you want, even on an external hard drive.
