Just like us, you’ve probably spent some time waiting for snap-to-grid to materialize in Photoshop. In this last patch, we finally got that beautiful feature. The entire grid system in Photoshop can be snapped as though you were holding an iPad, and drag and move your photo freely to rearrange your canvas.

Adobe has managed to provide the Photoshop experience to someone who does not have a Mac. And in my opinion, those new touch gestures are the most useful ones. The most obvious thing you’ll notice is the huge shortcut bar across the top of the screen. Its functionality is very similar to the keyboard shortcuts you get in Mac. The Power Tools can be found on the right side, and saving, sharing, exporting and publishing are located on the left. You can also perform the typical editing functions on the iPad Pro such as changing values, applying blur, healing, liquify, etc. Overall, you get a much better interface on the iPad Pro, but you also get more features than with the latest version of Photoshop for Android. Of course, the iPad Pro has no multi-touch screens like the iPhone X, but with all the icons at the bottom of the screen, you can navigate through the app very easily. And in my experience, the performance was great, although this still is not something I can attest to now that I am using the iPad Pro more often. As I mentioned before, editing performance can sometimes lag, but it should not take too much time at all. The problem is that the toolbars and palettes, and especially the toolbars, sometimes get cut off as the image zooms in, which means you need to make sure you are scrolling DOWN and not using the Zoom tool.

How to Use It To use the Selection Pane, click the Rectangle tool (Pencil) or the Line tool (Eraser) to start erasing. When you make a selection, the selection reminder will show you as you make the selection, letting you see your changes as they’re made. To deselect, choose Select > Inverse (Windows) or Edit > Select Inverse (Mac), which inverts the selection and sends you back to the painting stage.

Sometimes you want to create a selection based on a path or hard-edged object. You can use the Selection Pane to create these selections, as well. Choose Select > Create Custom Path and start drawing, freehand, or choosing a path directly on your canvas to create a custom selection.

How to Use It Once you’ve created a selection, you can erase areas of an image to clean up your image. Choose Select > Erase. You can erase areas of the image, change their color to the color you want, or even select a color from a color palette. You can also adjust the selection to refine it, change the size, and transform it.

What It Does: This is an important but less familiar tool in Photoshop. The Blend tool is a powerful addition to the Brush tool. You can use it to add strength to existing colors, remove color, soften edges, and more.

The Brush tool is found on the Brush panel in the Photoshop Standard toolbar. To view this tool, choose Edit > Stroke. Photoshop opens the Brush marquee and you can choose from an assortment of brushes. Alternatively, you can choose a brush preset by selecting one from the Brush Presets palette.
