    How to identify multiple polygons of same IDs within single polygon in R?

    I’m hoping this is doable but have been struggling to find an answer.
    I’ve been given a number of polygon shapes (x,y coordinates) and been asked to
    identify the Polygons, if there is multiple polygon shapes of the same ID I just want the shape with the largest area.
    Take this as an example :
    The initial shape is the black polygon (1st column), which I want a solution to identify that this is the original RGB – White (x, y)
    is there something like “unique” for polygons/rasters etc?

    Area of RGB-White (x,y)=0.1168775
    Area of RGB-White (x,y)=0.5555692

    Find the largest of these areas and store it in a new column.
