History
AutoCAD was developed by Autodesk, Inc., an American corporation. In 2009, Autodesk reported that over 9 million copies of AutoCAD had been sold, in 2011 that number was about 5 million. In the same year, the estimated yearly average AutoCAD revenue was $80 million.
AutoCAD’s roots are in Eberhard Faber Gesellschaft m.b.H., a German engineering firm founded in 1842. In 1969, Faber-Castell decided to expand into the then emerging CAD market, hiring Heinrich Engelmann as its first Chief Executive Officer. Development of AutoCAD was led by Engelmann’s successors at Faber-Castell, who hired Roger Sheppard to be the company’s Director of Engineering (Engineering is Autodesk’s term for CAD). They eventually found that the many years of cumulative experience in drafting made them ideal to develop a CAD application. According to a release from the Northwestern Ohio Drug Task Force, officers responded to a report of a disorderly party at the New West Apartments on campus at 9:49 p.m. Saturday. While investigating the party, officers allegedly observed the 18-year-old subject, who is not a Bethel student, displaying a handgun in the apartment.
The release says officers witnessed the subject point a gun at another male partygoer in the parking lot. During the ensuing foot chase, the subject allegedly pointed the gun at officers before throwing the handgun from his possession.
