SurCode for Dolby Digital Producer is an affordable audiophile-quality Dolby Digital Plus monitoring tool that produces Dolby Digital Plus content, for example, DTS-HD for 3D and/or Dolby Headphone encoding and decoding. Before auditioning SurCode, you should test SurCode on your own software and hardware setup to ensure it will operate correctly. It is not recommended to use SurCode on existing Pro Tools sessions or production work due to the SurCode plug-ins need to be configured before use.

The ‘phoneme’ plug-in allows you to, say, make Lt louder than Rt, or increase the signal level of Rt so that it will not be clipped, or make Rt louder than Lt. You can also use it to re-balance the Surround channel signals to raise the level of Lt over Rt, etc. I personally prefer this plug-in for its flexibility.
It’s getting very late in the day, so I won’t go into more detail about the Dolby Pro Logic encoder, except to say that it requires no special card or chipset, and works equally well on any of the Windows platforms. It also incorporates a Pro Logic decoding function, with which you can extract the Dolby Pro Logic surround (Lt/Rt) signal from the audio stream. This is a useful feature in those rare instances when a Pro Logic-equipped receiver is connected to a digital audio card, with Dolby Pro Logic configured as the output.
