i assume that they mean that it is a crack that will only allow you to run the game at a higher frame rate, like with denuvo. the problem with that, is that the game that the crack is for is already patched so the crack is for an older version of the game. the game that the crack is for isn’t even worth buying as it is already patched. so it’s not doing any harm just to remove denuvo and vmprotect, and if they remove denuvo and vmprotect, the game isn’t worth buying anymore. the only reason people buy the game is so that it doesn’t have denuvo and vmprotect in the first place. after all, if the game isn’t worth buying in the first place, how is the crack doing any harm?
assassins creed origins was built from the ground up using the unity engine 5.6. you can use the game and the engine to build your own games. most of the people who build games use the unity engine to build their game, so having the latest version makes it easier to build games.
the game performed badly due to a combination of the cracked license and the drm, which is why ubisoft eventually cracked ac:origins and released a crack for the game. this isn’t a bug in the drm, but a bug in how denuvo works, it’s drm is entirely optional and there is no reason to have it. people would not be able to play ac:origins if denuvo wasn’t applied. this is actually a bug in how ubisoft implemented the drm. it is safe to say that if we get denuvo removed from the game, the game would perform perfectly fine and you could enjoy the full game with no denuvo.
ok, so, we know that the performance of ac:origins on pc was bad when the game was using denuvo drm and the game was cracked. but what about its performance in its original state? is the game performing poorly in its original state due to drm or is it due to the cracked license? the numbers are quite revealing and paint a different picture:
