Overview
AutoCAD, originally a desktop CAD application, can run on PCs, Macs, mobile phones and tablets, and web browsers. It is one of the world’s most popular design software tools. With over 7 million AutoCAD licensees, the AutoCAD brand is used by over 80% of the industry.
A key feature of AutoCAD is an intuitive interface that lets users sketch, draw, and create accurate three-dimensional (3D) drawings without extensive training. Additional features include integrated technical applications, such as a milling, cutting, welding, and robotic simulation module. The interface also includes tools for viewing, analyzing, and creating documentation.
Three other main features of AutoCAD:
* Integrated technical applications – build your own technical applications, or purchase them from a third-party provider.
* Templates – create and reuse a wide variety of shapes and objects, including over 1,000 industry-standard templates.
* Drafting features – create drawing layouts, details, and dimensions that enable complex drawings to be easily created and updated.

Software Architecture
AutoCAD’s technical architecture includes a thin client, a middleware component, and a workflow, and also includes a number of plug-ins that extend the basic functionality of the software application.
AutoCAD contains two main parts: the AutoCAD Base software, and the AutoCAD Workgroup software. The AutoCAD Workgroup software is the work-group counterpart to AutoCAD Base. It is designed to simplify collaboration and simplify the creation, editing, and maintenance of AutoCAD drawings.
The AutoCAD Base and AutoCAD Workgroup software applications are divided into these two main components:
* AutoCAD Base contains:
– The Interface – the core drawing system, which provides the user interface.
– AutoCAD’s technical applications, including tools for 3D design, object-based drawing, and technical applications.
– Data management and AutoCAD integration features.
– The Autodesk Graphics Exchange (AGX)

Format Conversion:
You can convert a DGN or DWG drawing to PDF, SVG, XPS, and image formats. These formats can be viewed or used in many different ways. Conversion to PDF allows you to quickly create presentations of your drawings, which can be printed and easily viewed. Conversion to SVG, allows you to place a vector drawing on an HTML or Canvas page and modify it directly using an XML editor. Conversion to XPS allows you to create a native drawing file and view it within AutoCAD.

adding texture overlay to bevelled corners?
I know this is a really basic question, but I’m very new to blender and I’m trying to apply a texture to my bevelled edges. I want the corners to look like they’ve been bevelled with a texture.
I did this in photoshop but now I’m wondering if there’s a way to do this in blender? I did google and have done a lot of reading but I’m still struggling with this. I was thinking of using the bevel modifier but I’m not sure if I’m getting anywhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this in blender? I have a pretty basic understanding of it. Thanks!
