inventor 2018 for pc and windows 10 is the best version i’ve seen! it has the best functionality of any version of inventor i’ve used. i like the ability to save two versions of the drawings – one for the cnc program and one for print. it’s a huge upgrade over the previous 2016 inventor that was released last year. the new inventor 2018 is the future of inventor and it will be great to see how autodesk develops it over the next few years. i also like that there is a new version of inventor 2019 that is coming out this year – if you’re upgrading from inventor 2018, you’re probably going to want to wait until inventor 2019 is released before upgrading.
once you download the zip file, unzip the file and run the installer. you will get a dialog box warning that “the installer requires the windows installer api version 4.0 to function correctly.” i took that to mean that i would need to install windows installer 4.0. i thought this was a simple matter of turning on the windows feature i needed, but i could not find a way to turn it on, so i had to go to the control panel and manually turn the feature on through there. this then allowed the installer to continue. after installation you will be prompted for a folder that will contain your install and all of its components. i was able to install inventor in a folder that was on the root of the drive that i installed to. i think that this installer would work fine with installing inventor anywhere that you have administrative rights to install programs.
I am having an issue with Inventor. Every time I close Inventor I get the message “Applications interrupted” (source) and then I have to re-open in order for it to let me start AutoCAD Designer from the run menu. I have a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.7.2 and Inventor is version 2014 (x86-x64 version). I had AutoCAD 2012 in the past and it worked fine on the same MacBook Pro. It seems to be a bug with the new Inventor 2014 or the new Mac operating system that came out with OS X 10.7.2. Below I have attached my file and the error message that I get when trying to close Inventor. If anyone could please help me out, that would be great.
I have a similar issue with Inventor 2014. When I close Inventor I get the “Applications Interrupted” prompt and when I try to reopen Inventor (F9) I get the following error dialog box:”I cannot close Inventor as the files are being used. They may be in the middle of something that you cannot interrupt. You can try to restart this application. If this problem happens again, please close all files and restart this application. If that does not help, please run the following command: schtasks -delete “Application ID” and see if that helps.”
A similar issue in the past that I had not experienced. I can only assume that this was brought about by the newer Inventor 2014 application. This may be due to a memory leak in the new Inventor 2014 application but I have no way of knowing that. I will try to start the newer Inventor 2014 application and see if that will assist my problem.
