When do I need to promote a story-mode quest, versus the dialogue option?
I know that to unlock the DLC, you need to have a certain conversation, and to access certain areas in the world, you need to complete certain story quests. These can be done by talking to the quest giver.
However, I’ve had a couple different situations where the quest-giver has been unresponsive, or unavailable, or it just took too long, and I was about to click on that dialogue button, only to realize I could have been getting an easier and more effective result just by following the story quest.

In Solstice, you will have to collect three types of orbs throughout the game and use them to solve puzzles. Solstice comes with five difficulty modes which allow you to choose the level of challenge: Easy, Normal, Hard, Nightmare and Eye of the Killer. The difficulty settings will either increase or decrease the number of orbs of each type that you need to collect. The game also comes with a “soft reset” feature, where you can reset all the events of a chapter, but you will have to restart the chapter and collect the orbs once again to do so. With this feature, Solstice can be completely played by itself, without having to stop and restart several times in order to satisfy some hardcore players.
