Still, the book has a little bit better organization and presentation than other books on the market. The major changes that were incorporated in the new edition include: content updates and amendments in the chapter on pain (to specifically cover physical medications for treatment of pain), additional coverage on the topic of drugs and their impact on rehabilitation (via diagnosis and treatment), a new chapter on cancer rehabilitation (with a focus on oncology, hematology, pain, and medications), changes to the chapter on palliative care (specifically, to ensure that more emphasis is placed on clinical, rehabilitation, and support issues for patients, caregivers, and families), and an entirely new chapter on informed consent which explains the legal framework for patient rights and HIPAA compliance, as well as implications for the physical medicine and rehabilitation practice. I also appreciate the fact that the book is organized so that the reader is never forced to flip pages in order to find certain information.
