KEYMACRO is a software which enables you to attach your own instruments or effects to a MIDI keyboard. You have the possibility to create MIDI Channels (just like the old sequencers) or assign instruments and effects to them.

HOW TO INSTALL:

For proper work of the KEYMACRO software, it is necessary that a sound card is installed.

KEYMACRO has been tested under Windows 9x and XP. However, the use of it is not restricted to these operating systems.

Please be aware that the use of KEYMACRO may require the activation of the following services.

You can find out the status of your service by entering in command prompt “services.msc” and pressing F2 (that opens the services window).

Once the KEYMACRO software has been installed, open the program, press the “Launch” button and press the “Restart” button.

Before installing the KEYMACRO software, uninstall the “Keyscape” software to be able to use the “Sound Blaster” as your MIDI interface.

NOTE: If you do not have the “Sound Blaster” MIDI interface, you may use your standard MIDI Keyboard for the keyboard.

It works great, but after restarting my computer the service can’t detect that an application is running on a particular key. It will unload the key, but the application will still be in use and still be using the key.

It should be able to detect if an application is in use, but I guess that’s why this a “service” and not a “program”.

I checked the service on a Win 7 SP1 laptop and no problem. My interpretation is that the program is looking at the current value and if the value is not 0 then it’s in use. If the value is 0 then it can release the key. This is a common problem that I was having before I discovered the service.
I also noticed that it can’t release the keys that are not in use.

I have reinstalled the service after all other attempts failed. I even unchecked all the checkboxes to prevent it from automaticly starting on reboot. But no matter what I do it just won’t uninstall or start. The program itself won’t start, so I can’t see any error in the logs. When I check the service log for the service on my Vista laptop, I see:
