I’m often accused of being a contradiction. I have always been attracted to things that are “dark” or “interesting,” but I am actually quite drawn to more “life-like” (the fictional term that really means not-life-like) characters. Unlike many authors whose books I have enjoyed, I am able to have both worlds in my mind. And in any case, my fantasy book is far removed from what most of the criticism I receive says about my fiction.
Now I know that most here read novels that are decidedly not cyberpunk, so it is not that I (or my American publisher ? ) are trying to trick you by publishing something that has its own cyberpunk designation. I am simply drawing an analogy between the two, like saying that crystal meth, which is supposedly a stronger, addictive, dangerous drug that makes you sick, is also as physically strong as cocaine, because it is based on the same chemical.
I love to use the term cyberpunk, because it attracts people to my science fiction books. And I tried very hard to make Dead In No Time the best book it could be.
