Disclaimer: I played this a couple hours ago, I did pretty well, but I got
stuck about a third of the way through a dungeon. Trouble is, the technical
troubles I was having weren’t fixed by a scroll of Saint’s Blessings. So now I
am stuck, staring at a doorway as I try to create a scroll that is guaranteed
to get me out of this dungeon alive but still fixes all the problems that are
happening on this stage of my game.

You need to be more careful with your save file than I was, multiple 4-esquare
areas of this particular map tend to fail to render properly, either upon
auto-resuming the game or loading the saved file. It’s nothing game breaking,
but rather (which always makes me chuckle) a bug in the game engine. It does
happen I’ve heard from other players who have played this game, but it’s very
rare. They get past the initial map and are able to progress normally, but
unfortunately their world quicksave/load after every step ruins their world.

6. We have “inside info” that the Taliban and the government of Iraq have reached an agreement that will see U.S. troops withdraw from Iraq. This would be a huge blow to the anti-war left who have been hailing the idea of a U.S. troop pullout for quite some time.
All of which is to say that E.J. Dionne Jr., the columnist for The Washington Post, the paper that let someone else write the standard “Axelrod denies rumors that Obama asked him for a job” story from a month ago, has let the truth about Barack Obama sink into his brain.
