In this work, a surface-imprinted polymer (SIP) was prepared and used as an adsorbent for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) adsorption from gas phase. The preparation of SIP was carried out by using glycerol monomethyl ether (GME) as the functional monomer and vinyl acetate (VA) as the crosslinking agent. The content of VA in SIP was determined by its content in the surface layer. The VOCs adsorption from gas phase was studied by modeling the experimental data with the adsorption-desorption model of Langmuir. The results showed that the adsorption behavior of SIP followed Langmuir equation and the maximum adsorption capacities for benzene, toluene and ethylbenzene on SIP were 96.80, 101.72, and 100.19 mg g(-1), respectively. The breakthrough curves of SIP indicated that the equilibrium time for all target compounds decreased while the content of VA in the SIP increased. The adsorption isotherms of SIP showed that the adsorption capacity of SIP increased with the increase of the content of VA in the SIP surface layer. According to the adsorption isotherms of SIP, it was found that the adsorption of SIP for benzene, toluene, and ethylbenzene was an endothermic and spontaneous process.Sidewalk greening in the fast lane

    Duality of light and darkness

    The Lands Between is the setting of the game. In a land of black and white contrasting with one another, everything is born from one of these two forces: the Light or the Darkness.

    The Darkness boasts a palpable presence and influences everything. It is the source of terror and mystery, the origin of life and death, protection and oppression. Over the course of time, the Darkness has expanded to fill the lands with its own evil and contamination.

    We’re letting the gear touches of Polygon sit on my comfy armchair, folks, so today’s hands-on is a slow-shaking copy of Final Fantasy III, and while I might not be able to show you what all the doodads can do, the final product looks really good and runs at a solid framerate.
    The intro and opening scene at the beginning of the game is followed by a recap of the immediate events that led up to the climax of FFIII, so it’s a nice artifact of the past to jump right back into action. Yes, this is the era before portable phones and laptop computers were making them mainstream. I barely even own a video camera. That’s not for lack of popularity, either: I used to work on the editorial side of a large Japanese media company and I get the feeling that six out of 10 people don’t have any idea how this stuff works.
    Not that I miss it — I’ve enjoyed playing games for about half of my life, and the ability to create, share, and play through these experiences seems to have outgrown its infancy. So it has grown and morphed into a self-contained device that’s as visually pleasing as it is fun, and as this new price point of the console war is suggesting, the disc has become a core component, and not just of evolving computer entertainment.
    As expected, FFIII plays comfortably on the Vita, which is good, because I like to play games in clutches and pockets, and as it stands, the only environment I would prefer to play it in is the bath — with a proper living room setup, of course.
    As previously expected, Squeenix seems to be looking at that very old technology, having taken inspiration from the original PlayStation in terms of design. Note the console in the image above — the design I’m talking about is present all over the hardware. Like we saw with Sony’s last console effort, the PlayStation 4, the Vita cuts a sleek figure, but instead of packing in a techie look, it comes with a “Waxback,” which I’m one of those “awwww, my god, he looks so cute” people. But it does include a chin, and I can’t lie and say that I didn’t like it.
