Squadron: Sky Guardians is a flight simulator game that was developed by Ubisoft Montreal in cooperation with the Federal Armed Forces of Canada. The game follows the World War II campaign where a squadron of military airplanes, including fighters, bombers, transport planes, and helicopters in Canada, takes off to the “Wild West” of Central Asia – Iran.

The players of the game take the role of its pilot and attempt to fulfill their responsibilities while fighting against the Axis forces in the defense of Iran from the invasion of the USSR and Great Britain.

A high-quality, beautifully crafted and excellently playable PC game that requires more than just good graphics and sound. It makes you think about the real-world situation and its social changes, etc. This game made me think about the civil war in Iran and the political reasons behind it.

Developer Description:
The “Iranian experience” appears in “Squadron: Sky Guardians,” which is a flight simulator game being developed by Ubisoft Montreal in cooperation with the Federal Armed Forces of Canada. In the mission of the game, the story that took place in three historical periods (1942, 1981, and 2016) is being followed. First of all, in 1942, following the invasion of the Allied Forces to Iran during the World War II, USSR and Britain entered the northern and southern borders of Iran, respectively, and advanced into the country.

The pilot’s duty is to defend the borders, protect the domestic facilities and support friendly forces. In the second stage (the Iran-Iraq War), the invasion of Iraq to Iran in 1984 leads to a number of flight missions to oppose the enemy forces from advancing into the southern and southwestern borders of country. In 2016, in the final stage, a number of terrorist acts take place in religious cities of Karbala and Samarra by ISIS and the mission is to fly border patrols and identification, defend the country, and to cover the Iraqi forces.

Summary
