Tides and currents are the largest source of data for navigation, power generation, hydrography, and climate. However, these data are not always available.
JTides can retrieve tide predictions from NOAA, University of Washington, and University of California at Berkeley data bases, and from other sources at any time (historical or current).
On the menu bar, the User menu provides a number of actions to manipulate JTides. Under Data, there is a menu of many choices for retrieving tides. You can get 7-day tidal predictions for specific locations, or for the entire US or worldwide. You can graph the results, print a graphical summary, create an Excel spreadsheet summary, and retrieve US and worldwide locations that are not in the database. You can export or print out a calendar showing the tidal events for the next 3 months.
Under File, you can configure JTides to download tide predictions from more sites. You can configure JTides to include a selected set of additional parameters.
JTides is an MDI application. When you launch JTides, it opens several new windows. On the Menu bar, there is a File menu, a Data menu, and a User menu. Under the File menu, there are several submenu items.
