after reading through two textbooks (one japanese and one korean), and i could finally answer the jlpt questions. everything in the test is the same. i could make no mistakes on the kanji and vocabulary. the worst part is that it took me over a year and a half to become able to answer those questions. what i really wish that i have read the textbook before, so i could pass the jlpt in one week or one month. i cant write anything on this subject without including any spoilers , since there are no good sources online. maybe if you were in my position, you could completely revise the so-matome.
for vocabulary, my final exams used the so-matome. i have no idea what happened in the jlpt prep, so i dont know if the exam is the same as mine. so i decided to study the best as possible. what should i tell you? the so-matome is not enough. if you dont know enough vocabulary, or are not good at grammar, you will fail. as for me, i have always said i will be good at japanese, and i have never been wrong. so, if you have the same will and dedication, you can pass the jlpt. i hope that this post can give you some help.
the grammar is different in each lesson and the difference in meaning of a phrase might be different in a lesson than in another. one of the difficulties of using the so-matome textbook is that the information you need is not always accessible in a convenient way. for example, if you want to work on collocations, you might be required to look for the correct reading of a word in the dictionary and go on that path of research. if you dont do that, you will waste time and you will learn very little because you might not be able to work on a word within the lesson for example. if you want to study jlpt with this textbook, i recommend that you have a dictionary open in your computer while you study.
