i’m running the password utility as root, which is fine, but when i run the reset password, it doesn’t prompt me to enter my current password. if i just press enter, it prompts me to enter my new password. if i enter the correct password, then it doesn’t prompt me to enter my current password.
i’m running 10.0.7 on centos 6.0
thank you for posting this thread. this helped me solve the problem i was experiencing while trying to create a password change token in tableau 10.4. i use a dropbox client to access tableau online from a variety of machines (including a windows pc).
i tracked down my problem to being unable to generate the correct crypt password string that is necessary to change the password of an online account. it turns out that the dropbox client was expecting the password to be in the following format: “crypt:pass” and not “crypt:pass.txt”.
a quick solution is to just copy the password.txt file into the appropriate directory on the target computer, then paste it into the password box of the tableau online account. i know this is a bit of a hack, but it works, and it did solve my problem.
i’m having a problem with password changing in tableau. i have 3 users (passwords are good)
i use the password utility in tableau 10.4 to reset them. but when i log in it says that the password is wrong. it asks me for the old one, but i don’t have one. i deleted the password, and changed it with the utility, but it still says that the password is wrong. i checked the tableau pass.txt and it seems that the password of the user is ok. i tried the same thing with another user, and it works, it’s just that this one is not working.
Re-register the SonicWall by following the prompts in the upper right-hand corner of the GUI. You may be prompted to Log in to the SonicWall device, so ensure you have the correct login credentials, then login. Your password will be reset when you reset the Default Network. After you reset your Default Network, the new password will take effect at the next login.
If you’ve already deleted the Password, then you can simply type in the New Password. If you have not deleted it, then you will be prompted to generate a New Password. You can use any word or character combination that is not the same as your existing Password. Once you have provided the New Password, the SonicWall will confirm if it is correct.
The Authentication Password used for active connections will automatically be updated to your new Primary Password after you have completed the change. This can take an hour or more to process depending on the device load, so do not wait too long between the end of the last SonicWall device and the Change to new Password attempt.
You will be prompted to create a new Network with a new Password, and the update process will begin. You can choose to go through the wizard or manually enter the information. To create a new Network, select New Network, provide the Password, and select Apply and Save or Save and Continue.
