Step 1. Log In to Photoshop
To get started, you need to log into Photoshop first. To do this you will need to open the program and click the “Log In” button on the upper right corner of the program’s window. This will open the interface where you will find the option to “Create a New Account.” After you have logged into your account you can close the window and continue the tutorial.
Step 2. Create a New Photoshop Project
In order to create your image, you first need to create a new document. To create a new file, click on the “File” menu on the main Photoshop menu bar and choose the “New” option. The New Document window will appear. The setting for the new document is “One-Frame Page” and “Width” and “Height” are set automatically to their respective pixel dimensions. In this case, the width and height dimensions are set to be 612 pixels. The default resolution is 72 pixels/inch. You will also see a file size indicator that shows the size of the new document in pixels and the estimated file size in kilobytes. For this tutorial you will be creating a 600 pixel by 600 pixel image. The file size estimate is 38 kilobytes.
Step 3. Select the Right Screen Mode
The next thing you want to do is create a new document that will show a 600 pixel by 600 pixel page, or one “one-frame” as it is known. Accessing and adjusting layers
Layers are a powerful tool for editing images. They allow you to change a specific area of an image without messing with the parts that you don’t want to alter.
Here is an example image. The yellow box is a layer:
We will change the color of the yellow box. Photoshop Elements 2018 can do this by finding a color close to yellow within the “Paint Bucket Tool” (the red arrow). Then, you will be able to click on the specific color (the yellow box) and change the color to whatever you want.
You can click “Layer” from the “Layers” menu and the different layers in your image will show up.
You can bring up the “Layer” menu by clicking on the canvas at the top of the editor (the red arrow):
