to get your sims to be happier, you’re going to need this mod. by having it, your sim’s mood gets an automatic +20% boost in happiness, plus you also have a way to make it past the “you’re depressed” stage. this mod also allows you to have more children. but, you’re going to need to use certain mods. using this mod doesn’t affect your relationship at all.
you can further customize the resulting aftermath of tragic events in the game. the game lets you choose from a few types of consequences that could happen:
• your sim is killed
• your sim sues the person who caused the tragedy
• you sim has a permanent health problem and needs long-term care
• your sim suffers some negative career consequences
each type of consequence can be customized for many different outcomes, from health problems such as paralysis and catatonia to negative career consequences such as a drop in skill in a job. even one positive consequence is better than no. after all, you can’t have fun if you’re in the hospital being wheeled around in a coma.
because of the way time passes in the game, you can use simbirthdays to prevent tragedies from happening around simbirthdays. when a sim is born, the player can set it up with a catastrophe that lasts for the length of the simbirthday. for example, if you set a two-month baby’s birthday to august 2nd, it would experience a horrible tragedy on august 2nd. if you have another simbirthday from that sim around its 2 month anniversary, that sim wouldn’t experience the aftermath of that tragedy, even if it’s past september 2nd. it’s useful when you have a sim that has a tragedy from its past that shouldn’t be happening again, or if you just want to avoid certain tragedies happening again before you exit the game.
