when you compare this game with sonic heroes or sonic adventure, you’ll see just how much more complex it is. not only is it edgier and darker, but it also has a deeper story with much more plot lines included. this is an excellent addition to the sonic universe lore. and without a doubt it’s much more serious business than running fast, that’s obvious when at first sight when you see shadow running around with a gun.
the dark quests require the player to complete a set of objectives in a way that is fitting of the shadow of shadow himself. in sonic’s world, this means the player must find the necessary ingredients to make shadow’s black shadow go away. as the game only allows the player to move in four directions, finding all of the ingredients is a bit of a pain, as there are frequently alternative pathways that lead to the black shadow. all the ingredients are found in hidden capsules, and are scattered around the levels in a simple grid pattern. if a shadow is created on-screen, a golden-coloured spirit will appear, which must be eliminated by the player by touching it. if the player is the first to touch a shadow, they will activate a mini-boss. if the player is the second to touch it, they will activate a regular boss.
while the world of sonic 2 follows the traditional formula from the first game, the world of shadow the hedgehog is a world of its own. the world is rendered in 3d, and uses an isometric viewpoint. the player can move left and right, up and down, and rotate, with only one direction, however, not allowed to move diagonally. although the player can see the entire world map from any point of view, it is only viewable from the third-person, side-scrolling view. this change to the point-and-click gameplay comes at a cost. in the first sonic the hedgehog, as the player moved through the levels, they could view the entire level map, letting them see where the enemies were, and what was beyond the walls. in shadow, the player can view the entire level map, but cannot see beyond the walls, which means they have no idea where the hidden items are, and cannot know when they have completed the level. the world map in sonic 2 is more of a traditional map, where the player moves through the levels from the first to the last, whereas the world map in shadow is more like the classic point-and-click levels, where the player moves through the levels, each room is only viewable from the third-person view, but they can move about the level freely.
the game has some bugs, and the controls sometimes feels sluggish, especially the jumping. some of the music is a bit distorted, and i don’t like how the opening and ending songs are the same (with the exception of the intro and outro music). to be honest, the graphics are not that impressive. and i think that the online part is a bit slow. some of the weapons are annoying and some of the boss are not in the right place. but besides these small flaws, sonic the hedgehog is a great game with a great story and great fun. the story is great, the gameplay is great, the graphics are great, the music is great, and the physics are great, and i loved it! i really recommend this game if you are sonic fan and i’m sure you will love it.
with all of the chaos that sonic the hedgehog has brought, tails the fox is now the first vehicle in sonic’s universe to be recreated in 3d. in this version, tails is a little bit different than the sonic 3d “vehicle” that was featured in the game. in this version, he can fly just as fast and even faster. he is now able to perform many spin attacks and also punch much more. tails has taken some of the abilities from the tails game that was released on game gear and game boy color. tails can now hover just as long as sonic can. the controls are also a little bit easier as tails doesn’t have to keep dodging obstacles as he did in the tails game. and to top it all off, tails can now run through walls and ceilings.
though this game is a re-release of sonic the hedgehog, it’s not like the sega genesis version. sonic the hedgehog is a new game that features a new story, characters, gameplay, and soundtrack. this version has many new features, new stages, and overall, a much more fluid and enjoyable experience. it’s also a game that’s not just for old fans of the franchise, but it’s a game that many people will enjoy. it has many new features, such as a new story, characters, and gameplay. it also has many new levels such as crazy casino night, mystic cave, and many others. the sonic the hedgehog game is a fun game, that’s why i recommend it to everyone!
