What’s New In Copy File Name Utility?
The Copy File Name Utility package contains two folders:
Copy Pathname Utility Description:Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) runs when a user right-clicks a file or folder on the Windows Explorer desktop, selects one of the context menu items “Copy Pathname” or “Copy Path”, and then presses the right mouse button.
When a user right-clicks a file or folder and selects one of the context menu items “Copy Pathname” or “Copy Path”, Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) reads the path of the file or folder on the desktop. It then copies this path to the clipboard.
The first colon (:) in the path that is copied is a colon followed by a slash. Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) calls the standard Windows explorer search function for the first colon (;) in the path. It does not call for the last colon (:) in the path. That means that the path is copied exactly as it appears in the Windows Explorer desktop. A colon (:) followed by a slash is mandatory and must be present in a path. This cannot be changed. The colon and slash must be present even if the path contains a space or a tab.
Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) is effective in copying a path of any length. It is effective when a file or folder is selected on the Windows Explorer desktop. It is effective when the copy command was selected in the context menu.
Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) is not effective when a file or folder is selected by opening it from the Windows Explorer window or any folder that is opened in it. This is because the path (name) of the file or folder is not read when a file or folder is opened in the Windows Explorer window. Instead, the path of the file or folder is read when the file or folder is double clicked to open it on the Windows Explorer desktop.
Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe) is effective even if the context menu is displayed by a Windows Explorer window that is not the current windows explorer desktop. However, if the current windows explorer desktop is the windows explorer window that was responsible for the context menu displayed by the Windows Explorer desktop, the user will not be able to execute Copy Pathname (arg2cp.exe). This occurs when a Windows Explorer window is open in full screen mode.
