I have few questions to ask you. I am using ext3 as my file system and it’s a regular hard drive. I was using qparted to shrink the partition of my disk. I was shrinking the partition of my disk (ext3 file system) in the order of 2GB to 1GB. Now I have created 2GB partition after shrinking the ext3 partition. When I copy the data from the old ext3 partition to the newly created ext3 partition, data is getting deleted. If I copy from the newly created ext3 partition to the old ext3 partition, data is getting copied. Why is that so? It’s doing like that because the space of the ext3 partition is only 1GB (less than 2GB). I have data which is more than 2GB. Is it possible to copy data from old ext3 partition to newly created ext3 partition? If yes, then how?

I was able to resize my ext3 partition after which I have created a new ext3 partition. Now the new ext3 partition contains all the data which was present in the old ext3 partition. I copy the data from the old ext3 partition to the new ext3 partition. Data is being copied. But my problem is that the old ext3 partition has all the data. I don’t want to copy data from the old ext3 partition to the new ext3 partition. I want to merge all the data in the new ext3 partition. Is it possible? I have data which is more than
