Mohammed Abduh conceived his purpose ‘to go back to the Qur’an and As-Sunnah in the field of education. The tasks of organizing schools and reforming them, and the feeling of the need to do something that would affect Muslim society, stimulated him and enabled him to take leave from Al-Azhar to create the Daarul Ihsan, which was first attended by twenty-six scholars in 1897. Abduh started his efforts with the organization in 1881 of the Daarul Ihsan, the first school to be established in Egypt to serve Islamic scholars. To determine the educational goals for education, the formation of the personality of the individual and the transformation of the Islamic society in the person of its students, the reformer drew from the scholars who have guided Islamic thought and the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad’s words, among them, was al-Azhar, Imam al-Shafi’i al-Kamali, Jamaluddin al-Afghani and the reformer of the movement, Muhammad Abu Tahir.
