almost 10 years now. The biggest new change
this year has been the launch of the Symbian
OS.2 based phones. These Symbian OS.2 phones
are supposed to run on the Nokia Series 60
platform, a strong development and software
quality. The OS.2 means you now have the
capability to run native applications for the
first time. These are the applications that
are written specifically for the iPhone,
including the Address Book and Calendar. You
can use these applications on a phone without
any adapter. Also, you can now use your PC
apps.
Android
has finally started to shape up. Android

Who is it for?
I use this software for two main purposes when scanning. One is as a replacement for scanning in the filing cabinet, e.g. scanning back-up files, court and court reports etc. in black and white. If a document does not need to be filed, I scan it and use the resulting file to keep track of it for future reference.
This software replaces TWAIN, and does the same job for the much lower price. TWAIN is a free software you can install on Windows XP. This is not the only version, however. You can also get Transym OCR (OS/2, Windows), which also does the same job as TOCR. As this is Windows-only, and as I run Windows XP on my PC, I opted for the TOCR software.
Installation
Once installed, the software is reasonably easy to use and you can scan in either B&W or colour. It is not very difficult to use. It will give a nice, clear result from a photographic print, for example. In my case, I use it to file documents that are mostly white and black, and I scan them in black and white.
This software is fairly reliable, and produces good quality, fast. It can scan straight to a folder, but you can also save the scanned file as a PDF file.
If you save the file as a PDF, you can print the resulting file from any printer, which is useful if you have a scanner that cannot scan to a graphic file format (
