That was the message heeded by CENTCOM’s chief spokesman, Major General Dubs, on Tuesday night, who said that the missile strikes on ISIS-controlled areas of Iraq won’t be enough to put a quick end to the terrorist organization.

“We believe that a full-on strategy to defeat” ISIS has been laid out by the commander in chief, Dubs said, adding that in the interim, the U.S. military is merely “prepared to take action to defend ourselves, our friends and our partners.”

Although the timing on the speech was kept purposefully vague in order to allow for the quick abolition of the organization, some analysts believe that the speech may be just the beginning of what Obama — no matter what his 2016 opponent says — truly hopes will be a long-term strategy to tackle the growing threat of ISIS.
