    – Lots of character voice actors. That helped a lot

    – A well-designed graphics and a great interface. The dungeon graphics were great.

    Disliked:

    – Where’s Waldo? There was no part of the player except for the screen at all times. I’d rather play an RPG where I can actually see what’s going on instead of hiding inside trees like a bird.

    I’m not exactly a newbie when it comes to JRPGs, the genre is fairly large and has had several big names in the past decade or so, so I’m always willing to give a new title a try, especially after seeing positive reactions to Final Fantasy XV. And, I’ll say, trying JRPGs is definitely a way of discovering new favorites, whether those be games I haven’t played before or just games I haven’t taken the time to play. I’m certainly glad I did though, as Elden Ring is a shining example of quality in video games today.

    – The mystery engine.

    – The game’s simulation nature.

    – The relationships in your town.

    – The music and the music.

    – The action combat system.

    The game starts you off in your hometown, where you can hear your neighbors gossiping and the grunts of your little town’s brawny farmers. There are also some new characters in town, including the cute little poet Erima who speaks in rhyming couplets. You want to know more about them, you say? Of course you do! Tons of new information is unlocked over time, much of it via dialogue.

    This is what’s so great about Elden Ring, as the plot is told through numerous side quests. You get to know the people in your hometown, and the more you do the more information you unlock. It is a testament to the developers’ attention to detail that the entirety of the game’s huge world is explored. It’s also a testament to their level of dedication that new areas and characters just keep getting added.

    – The choices/morality system.

    – The battle system.

    – The magic and magic.
